Blazers Win Two on the Road

After the loss to Kentucky Christian University last Tuesday night, the Trailblazers of Ohio Christian University had something to prove when they hit the road Friday and Saturday.  The first stop was in Louisville, Kentucky Friday night against Boyce College.  The Blazers started with a lot of ball pressure and never slowed down as they beat Boyce with a score of 94 to 50.  "The team played 40 minutes of very good defense Friday night never letting Boyce get good looks at the basket."  OCU shot 50% from the field and the three point line.  As a team they had 20 steals, 7 blocked shots, and 42 rebounds.

On Saturday the team traveled down to Nashville, Tennessee to play Freewill Baptist Bible College.  The result was the same.  The Trailblazers defense showed up and held Freewill to only 12 for 55 from the floor and 3 of 22 from behind the three point line.  The final score was 88 to 43. "I hope that this is the way we are going to play for the rest of the year.  I never like to lose but our loss to KCU last week brought our team into a new focus.  Our team knows they are talented but now they know that they have to play with the same intensity every night for us to accomplish our goals for the year," says Coach Christopher.  Both All Americans Stefan Vasiloff and Rickshontae Spell played well this weekend.  Vasiloff had 21 points and 10 rebounds Saturday. Vasiloff currently leads the nation in three point shooting.  Spell had 19 points and 10 assists.  Our freshman center, Cornelius Oliver, had a good all around game with 5 points, 12 rebounds and 3 shot blocks.  The Trailblazers are now 15 and 3 on the season and 4 and 1 in the NCCAA II Mideast league.  The team is back on the floor Tuesday evening against Ohio State University Mansfield.
