Men's Basketball Announces 2012-13 Season Schedule
CIRCLEVILLE, OH - The OCU men's basketball program has released the 2012-13 season schedule. The Trailblazers tipoff the season at the Mt. Vernon Nazarene University Tournament where they will open up with Indiana University East, an NAIA National Tournament participant in 2011-12. The Blazers will then head to Grand Rapids, Michigan to take part in the Grace Bible College Tournament. OCU will play the three time defending champs on their home floor if both teams win on the first day of the tournament.
The 1st semester schedule is highlighted by big matchups against NAIA affiliates Indiana Wesleyan, Pikeville, and Mount Vernon. OCU will also be taking on Cedarville University, Ashland University, and Wittenberg University in non-conference play against NCAA programs.
OCU will have a pair of rematches from the 2012 NCCAA National Tournament when the Blazers take on Central (MO) and Trinity (ND) in the AGCU Classic in January. The Trailblazers will also take on East Region power Valley Forge, in the final day of the AGCU Classic.
The 2nd semester is highlighted by contests against longtime rivals Kentucky Christian University and Valor Christian College. OCU will also be taking on Kuyper College and Hiwassee College in second semester non-conference games.
"This is a competitive schedule that will make us better as a team," commented OCU Head Coach Tony Stockman. "We will be facing three of the top NAIA teams in the nation and three strong NCAA programs. It is great preparation for the national tournament and will give us opportunities to compete, improve, and grow as a program."
