Men's Basketball Victorious Over Great Lakes

CIRCLEVILLE, OH - The OCU Trailblazers picked up their first home win on Monday night, defeating a scrappy Great Lakes Christian squad by a score of 90-82.

The Blazers rode the hot hand of Trey Vaughan early on as the junior guard tossed in 19 points in the first half.  Vaughan would go on to finish with 24 points.  Great Lakes kept things close for most of the half and OCU went into halftime with a 40-36 advantage.

OCU came out slow in the 2nd half and gave up an 11-1 run to Great Lakes in the opening 4 minutes as the visitors took a 47-41 lead.  The Blazers regrouped and put together an 8-0 run capped off by a Kenny Cooper slam dunk to reclaim the lead.

Down the stretch, OCU guards Treyvon Crater and Wesley Russell hit big shots and free throws to put the game out of reach.  Crater was 7 of 8 from the line in the closing minutes and Russell carried the offensive load for OCU, scoring 23 points in the 2nd half and finishing with a game high 27 points.  James Nelson added 10 points and 4 blocks for the Blazers.

OCU now sits at 4-2 on the season and will resume play after Thanksgiving break on November 30th against UC-Clermont.
