OCU Comes up Short in Final Minutes vs #1 Grace

CIRCLEVILLE, OH - OCU and Grace battled to the end on Tuesday night in a game that lived up to the hype,  OCU used strong defense and a balanced scoring attack in the first half to take a 36-35 halftime lead.  The 2nd half was a back and forth battle as the lead changed hands many times with several ties in the closing minutes,  OCU led by as many as 7 points in the 2nd half before Grace rallied back to tie it at 60-60 with just a few minutes left.  Grace took a two point lead at 66-64 with one minute remaining and would never again relinquish the lead.  OCU had several good looks down the stretch but couldn't convert the looks into points.  OCU had the ball with a minute and a half left and down four points, but a costly turnover would force OCU to foul.  Grace converted at the line on 4 straight trips to seal the win with the score 74-66.

Wesley Russell led OCU with 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 steals.  Tirrell Cumberland scored 15 points, 5 assists, and 5 steals.  Milen Kostov scored 9 points and had two steals.  Kenny Cooper tallied 6 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 steals off the bench.

OCU had 13 assists compared to 12 turnovers in the contest.  Grace had 25 turnovers and 20 assists in the game.  Grace outrebounded OCU 40-35 but OCU held the advantage on offensive rebounds at 12-8.  OCU struggled from the field shooting only 20 of 71 for 28.2%.  Grace shot 27 of 55 for 49.1%.  OCU recorded a season high 19 steals in the game.

OCU is back in action this weekend as they hit the road to take on OU-Chillicothe on Friday night and Clark State Community College on Saturday.
