OCU Dominates Ohio Mid-Western 90-69 at Home
CIRCLEVILLE, OH - Ohio Christian University avenged a three point loss to Ohio Mid-Western in early January with a 90-69 victory over the Rams on Saturday afternoon. The Trailblazers jumped out to a big lead in the first half on their OCAC rival and never looked back as OCU was clicking on all cylinders in one of their best performances of the season.
The Trailblazers were running and gunning in the first half as OCU took a 63-35 lead into the locker room at the half. Ohio Christian shot a blazing hot 9 of 12 from three point range in the first half. Wesley Russell dished out 9 assists in the first half alone as OCU built an overwhelming lead.
Ohio Christian picked up where they left off in the second half. A balanced effort and strong transition game gave OCU a 34 point lead with ten minutes remaining in the game with the score 82-48. The Blazers went deep to the bench as all thirteen players got playing time in the contest and 10 different players scored. OCU went on to cruise to a 90-69 victory.
Ohio placed 4 players in double digits with Mo Fall leading the way with 22 points and 9 rebounds. Tirrell Cumberland tallied 16 points and shot 4 of 7 from long distance. Delorean Glanton added 15 points on 6 of 9 shooting while also swiping 5 steals. Wesley Russell added a double-double with 10 points, 11 assists, and 3 steals. Milen Kostov and Josh Delph added 8 points and 7 points respectively in the OCU win. Greg Howard led Ohio Mid-Western with a game high 32 points.
The Blazers shot 12 of 14 from three point range in the game compared to 3 of 15 for Ohio Mid-Western. OCU tallied 22 assists in the game compared to just 12 for the visiting Rams. The OCU defense forced 22 turnovers while swiping 16 steals and blocking 3 shots.
Ohio Christian (16-9, 6-0) is back in action on Tuesday night when they head to Grayson, Kentucky to take on region rival, Kentucky Christian University. The game is set for an 8:00pm tip.
