OCU Honors 1982 Regional Championship Team

CIRCLEVILLE, OH - Ohio Christian University honored the 1982 Regional Championship Team on Saturday afternoon in honor of the 30th anniversary of their magical postseason run during the 1981-82 season.  The '82 team was the first team to compete as an NCCAA Member, first to win a Regional Championship, first to earn a berth to the NCCAA National Championship Tournament, and first to have a player named as an NCCAA All-American (Dwight Mason).  Head Coach Michael Walters made the journey from New York to attend the event and player Mike Martinez flew in all the way from New Mexico to attend.

The team was honored before the men's basketball game against Johnson University as all players and coaches received commemorative watches in celebration of the 1982 season.  Dr. David Lattimer and Dr. David Case were on hand to welcome the players and coaches as they were announced before the home crowd.  At halftime, the #15 jersey of two time All-American and Career Assist Leader, Dwight Mason, was officially retired.  Head Coach Mike Walters and Assistant Coach Mike Holbrook shared a few words along with Dwight Mason and OCU President, Dr. Mark Smith.
