OCU Knocks Off KCU 89-69 at Home
CIRCLEVILLE, OH - The Trailblazers took care of business on Tuesday night as they handled Mid-East Region rival, Kentucky Christian University, on their way to an 89-69 victory. The first half was back and forth as OCU took a ten point lead at one point. KCU responded behind Juice Clemons who hit a three pointer to bring the Knights to within 4 points. Clemons would score 20 points in the first half to lead the Knights. OCU scored a basket near the end of the half to push the lead back to 6 points as the teams headed to the locker rooms with the Blazers holding a 42-36 lead.
The 2nd half was all Ohio Christian as the Blazers used strong ball pressure and a big rebounding advantage to jump out to a big lead. A three point basket by Tirrell Cumberland gave OCU a 28 point lead at halfway through the 2nd half. The Blazers used a deep bench as every player played in the contest and ten different players scored.
OCU held a 51-24 rebounding advantage with 19 of those being offensive rebounds. They shot a blistering 39 of 68 from the field for 57.4%. Mohamed Fall had a solid performance with 19 points on 9 of 11 shooting while also grabbing 9 rebounds. Wesley Russell 17 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists. Tirrell Cumberland added 16 points and 4 rebounds. Mike Farrell added 11 points on 5 of 6 shooting. Kenny Cooper was strong in the middle with 8 points and 12 rebounds.
The Blazers are now undefeated in regional play and will next face OCAC rival UC-Clermont on the road this Friday.
