OCU Loses Road Battle to NAIA #2 Indiana Wesleyan


MARION, IN. - The OCU men's basketball team took on Indiana Wesleyan on Monday night and came up short to the NAIA #2 ranked Wildcats in a tightly contested game.  Despite the 23 point margin,  IWU led by just five (35-30) at the half as both teams struggled mightily in the first 20 minutes. Ohio Christian had 19 turnovers at the half and Indiana Wesleyan amassed 15.

Ohio Christian led for a total of 14 seconds in the contest, but refused to let IWU pull away. It was not until IWU hit two free throws with 12:41 left in the game that IWU took its first double digit lead at 51-41.

The Trailblazers cut the lead back to eight on their next possession at the 12:00 mark to get within 8 points at 51-43, but IWU hit two free throws on their next possession to push the lead back to 10. Those two free throws were the start of a 14-4 IWU run that put the game away.

Ohio Christian battled inside and held a 36-30 rebounding advantage. Of those 36 rebounds, 23 came on the offensive end. OCU struggled from the field, shooting just 29.8-percent (17 of 57) shooting.  MIke Farrell and Wesley Russell led Ohio Christian with 20 points each.  Farrell hit 4 three point baskets in the game while Russell went 14 of 15 from the free throw line,

The Traiblazers (2-2) are back in action this weekend as they head to Valley Forge Christian College to compete in the Hersha Hospitality Classic.
