Trailblazers Lose Heartbreaker to KCU 71 to 75
The number three ranked Trailblazers of Ohio Christian University were on the road Tuesday night to take on number 7 ranked rivals Kentucky Christian University. "This is the most anticipated game of the year for our students, staff and players. Our students (The Blue Crew) came out in several vans and cars to watch this rival game" the Trailblazers came out strong in the first ten minutes of the game to take an early eleven point advantage. Late in the first have KCU's center Svetomir Ilic stepped back to make two three pointers to cut the blazers lead to four going into half time. (40 to 36) The second half turned out to be an all out brawl with several lead changes, ties, turnovers and missed foul shots for both programs. It was going to come down to the wire. OCU guards Stefan Vasiloff, Tim Baker, Rickshontae Spell, and Michael Farrell all hit key shots down the stretch. The game came down to rebounding in which Kentucky's center twins Svetomir and Cedomir Ilic won the battle. 38 KCU boards to 26 OCU boards. Junior KCU guard Casey Jones played well with 28 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Senior OCU guard Stefan Vasiloff played a consistent game with 22 points and 5 rebounds. "Our bigs did not play well against theirs tonight. We cannot win the big games if our post players do not step up and battle in the paint." Said Coach Christopher. The Trailblazers are on the road this weekend at Boyce College on Friday and Freewill Baptist on Saturday.
