OCU Launches Track and Field Program
CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio - The Ohio Christian University athletic department is pleased to introduce Track and Field as the latest sports offering for the 2012-13 academic year. The program will be available to both men and women in the upcoming school year.
OCU continues to grow and look for new ways to give student athletes opportunities to be sharpened by quality coaching and the valuable experience of intercollegiate athletics. Track and Field is a natural addition to an already growing athletic department. Adding Track and Field will benefit the Cross Country program significantly as many competitive high school runners compete in both Track and Cross Country.
OCU athletic director Ben Belleman has brought in a familiar face in the local community to lead the new Track and Field program. Dick Walters, a longtime track coach at Circleville high school be leading the program. "Coach Walters brings a wealth of knowledge in track and field instruction and training," said Belleman. "Walters has strong connections locally and throughout central Ohio that will assist in recruiting quality student athletes to the program."
Walters is excited to get the program up and running. "OCU is a great place for a young person to study, grow spiritually, and compete at the college level," said Walters. "We are going to build the program into a competitive intercollegiate track and field program that will grow into something special. If you are a student athlete that is looking to compete immediately at an up and coming intercollegiate track program, then OCU is the place for you."
