Dramatic Comeback Bid Comes Up Short vs Moody

CIRCLEVILLE, OH - The OCU Men's Soccer team faced top ranked Moody Bible Institute on Friday evening and came up short in a dramatic 4-3 finish. After digging themselves a 4-0 deficit, OCU regrouped and stormed back in a memorable comeback.
Moody scored three first half goals and then struck first in the 2nd half on a penalty kick. Moody was awarded the penalty kick after OCU goalkeeper Steven Fabian got tangled up with a Moody player while pursuing the ball.
Trailing 4-0, the Blazers fought back. Ohio Christian found the back of the net when Dave Blamo pulled the trigger in transition to make it 4-1. Just minutes later, another goal by Blamo brought the capacity crowd to their feet as OCU now trailed 4-2. NCCAA Player of the Week Emanuel Harris followed the pair of Blamo goals up with a dramatic goal of his own to bring OCU to within one with the score 4-3. In the closing minutes the Blazers had a pair of good looks that could have tied it but one shot went wide and a header off of a corner kick was dramatically saved by Moody near the crossbar.
"This is a great measuring stick for us," said Head Coach Josh Murton. "We really got behind early but we fought back and showed some character and heart. This is definitely a game that we will grow and get better from. I am proud of our guys for fighting back and making this a close one."
OCU is back in action on Tuesday when they take on Appalachian Bible College. The game is set to start at 5:00 PM.
