Fabian Anchors Defense vs Crown and Otterbein

CIRCLEVILLE, OH - The OCU men's soccer program enjoyed another succesful weekend in matchups against NCCAA rival Crown College (TN) and NCAA affililiate, Otterbein University.

On Friday night, the Trailblazers faced regional rival, Crown College, who took them to the wire on two occassions last year.  OCU came out as the aggressor on offense as they would outshoot Crown 16-4 in the match.  A Jimmy Galvan penalty kick would give OCU a 1-0 advantage that they would never surrender.  The Blazer defense held firm the rest of the way as Steven Fabian recorded his 4th shutout of the season in goal.  The win was the 5th straight for OCU.

On Saturday, Ohio Christian took on Otterbein University, an NCAA program.  Freshman Adam Knox scored in the first half to give OCU a 1-0 advantage.  Otterbein would battle back with a goal of their own in the 2nd half to tie the score at 1-1.  The game went into double overtime where OCU goalkeeper Steven Fabian came up with two spectacular diving saves on consecutive shots by Otterbein to secure the 1-1 tie.  OCU was out shot 19-10 in the game.  Steven Fabian tallied 12 saves in the match to anchor the OCU defense.

"This was a tough stretch this week but we have performed well," said head coach Josh Murton.  "Delong and Fabian have been rocks for us defensively and they stepped up big this weekend."

The Blazers are now 5-1-1 on the season and have played 6 straight games without a loss.  OCU is back in action on Saturday, September 24th, when they travel to Detroit, Michigan to take on Northland International University.
