Men's Soccer Dominates NAIA St. Catharine 5-1
ST. CATHARINE, KY - The OCU men's soccer team bounced back from a disappointing loss in their season opener and came out with a vengeance as they beat NAIA affiliate St. Catharine College handily on Saturday afternoon by a score of 5-1.
The Blazers were focused and attacked St. Catharine early and often as goals by Adam Knox and Dave Blamo gave OCU an early 2-1 lead. That is as close as St. Catharine would get as Emanuel Harris scored late in the first half to put OCU out in front 3-1 heading into the intermission.
The second half proved to be all OCU as the Blazers kept the all out attack going. A second goal by Dave Blamo and a sensational header that found the back of the net for Jimmy Galvan put OCU out in front 5-1.
"This is a big win for us on the road against a solid NAIA soccer program," said head coach Josh Murton. "Our guys have responded well as we have made some adjustments after a tough opener last week. We are looking forward to getting back to work and playing in front of the home crowd for the first time next week."
The Blazers are back in action on September 9th and 10th as they take on Appalachian and Grace in their first of 5 straight home games.
