Men's Soccer Players Honored with All-American Awards

The NCCAA and NSCAA announced that Ohio Christian Men's Soccer have 2 1st Team All-Americans, the first in 23 years.
Emanuel Harris and Kevin Street were named 1st Team All-American and is OCU's first since William Brunosky back in 1986. Both are team captains and Harris led on the offensive side for OCU and Street led the defensive side. "Both have helped bring this program around over the past 2 years and it is nice to see them get recognition for what they have done" commented Coach Murton.
Street, otherwise nicknamed "The Redhead Assassin" by CCSN.net, was one of the main reasons OCU had their best defense in OCU history. Only giving up 1.42 goals per game is a record setting season defensively while also shutting down some of the more potent offenses in the National Tournament in Manhattan Christian College, Clearwater Christian College and Providence College. Street is 4th on the team in scoring (6) even from the defensive side of the ball. He was name 1st Team All-Region and the NCCAA All-Tournament team.
Harris, was second on the team this year with 22 goals but led the nation in assists with 18. In two years he broke the school record for career goals scored, career assists, career points and many more statistic categories. He had been named "Player of the Week" 4 times over the past 2 years and was named Player of the Year by CCSN.net.

In 2008 he was selected as 2nd Team All-American and is this years Regional Player of the Year, while also being selected to the NCCAA All-Tournament Team.
OCU also had 2 players name to the 2nd Team All-American which marked the first time in school history to have 4 All-Americans in one year. Sophomore defender, Stu Hostetter and Freshman forward, Dave Blamo were announced as the 2 2nd Teamers.
Hostetter was also part of the stubborn OCU defense and although not flashy, was deemed Mr. Consistency by Coach Murton many times. Stu, a transfer from Ohio University, was named 1st Team All-Region.
Dave Blamo broke the school record for goals scored in one season (23) previously held by Harris with 21 last year. Dave also was named 1st Team All-Region and scored the game winning goal against Manhattan Christian.
OCU also had two players name Scholar Athletes for the NCCAA. Senior Dominic Lehman and Junior Kevin Street were honored.
Kevin Street and Emanuel Harris will both be honored at the NSCAA National Convention in Philadelphia on January 16th at noon.
