Ohio Valley Two Sport Standout Pete Carman Signs with OCU

GALLIPOLIS, OH - Ohio Christian University is pleased to announce the signing of Pete Carman from Ohio Valley Christian School. Pete is a two sport standout in both soccer and basketball at OVCS.

As a senior goalkeeper, Carman led his Defender soccer squad to a 15-4-3 record and an OCSAA Final Four Appearance. Carman was honored as a 1st Team All-District selection in 2011 after being honored as a 2nd Team All-District selection in 2010.

OCU Soccer coach Josh Murton is looking forward to working with Carman over the next four years. "Pete comes to us with a great pedigree on and off the field. He is very active in his church and is an outstanding person. His teammates at OVCS all commented on what a team player he is and were so excited to have him. On the field he impressed me and my staff in training and in games. He will be a great asset to OCU now and for many years to come."

Carman is also a star Forward on the OVCS basketball team where he is currently averaging 16 points and 14 rebounds per game for the Defenders under head coach Steve Rice. Carman led Ohio Valley to the OCSAA Final Four in his junior year where he tallied 27 points and 13 rebounds in the last game of the season. Carman is hoping to lead his team on a run to the OCSAA State Title on March 2nd and 3rd when OCU will be hosting the 2012 OCSAA State Final Four for boys basketball.

"Pete Carman is our kind of student-athlete," said recruiting coordinator Jamey Batten. "He is a hard worker, a team player, and knows what it takes to be successful. He will be a leader on our campus and make those around him better. We are blessed to have Pete as the newest member of our campus family."
