OCU Baseball Wins First Regional Championship
The OCU Baseball Team added to the great OCU Athletic Season Wednesday with an 11-1 win over Freewill Baptist to capture the Mid East Regional Championship at Chillicothe's VA Stadium. The win sends the Blazers to the National Baseball Championships in Mason, Ohio May 12-15.
Pitching and defense again led the Blazers with Michael Blevins pitching a complete game for the win.
OCU Baseball One Win From Regional Championship
The Blazer Baseball Squad took a big step on Tuesday with a 9-1 win over Johnson Bible College to advance to the championship game of the Mid East Regionals. OCU relied on pitching and defense to win over the Preachers at the VA Stadium in Chillicothe. Steven Vogelgesang picked up the win on the mound with a complete game performance giving up just 2 hits.
Baseball Regional Moved to VA Stadium on Tuesday
The NCCAA Baseball Regional tournament slated to begin Monday at OCU, has been postponed till Tuesday and moved to the VA Stadium in Chillicothe due to the rain and wet conditions. The schedule change now has Freewill and Johnson meeting Tuesday at 9:30 am, with the winner facing number 1 seed OCU at approximately 11:45 am. Losers of the two games will play again at 2 pm Tuesday.
OCU Baseball Sweeps OSU Mansfield for 13 Season Wins
The OCU Baseball Team got back on the winning side Wednesday with a doubleheader sweep of OSU Mansfield at Olson Field. The Blazers scored 7 early runs in game one and then rode the right arm of Steven Vogelgesang to a 7-3 win. In game two, a nine run sixth inning broke a 6-6 tie and led to a 15-6 Blazer victory in the final game.
Alice Lloyd College of Kentucky Sweeps OCU Baseball
The Blazer Baseball squad hosted a very potent Alice Lloyd College team and dropped two games by 13-1 and 10-3 scores at Olson Field. "They were very deep and pretty loaded with talent and to top it off we played absolutely our worst games of the season," summed up Coach Greg Bigam.
The Blazers had 5 errors in game one and never threatened.
Triple Play Halts Blazer Upset Bid
Halfway through the game with Division 1 and ranked Cedarville, it looked lilke the upstart Blazers baseball squad was set for the upset of the season. Tied 2-2 in the 5th, the game got away on two freak plays. In the top of the fifth, the inning ending third out was lost in the sun and fell for a two run double for Cedarville.
OCU Baseball Sweeps Johnson Bible in Cincinnati
The OCU Basebal team kept it rolling on Saturday as they traveled to Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio, site of this year's NCCAA World Series, and swept regional foe Johnson Bible College by scores of 9-4 and 8-4. The sweep of the two games will hopefully clinch the number one seed for the Blazers at the regional tournament in two weeks.
OCU Baseball Adds Win Over OSU Mansfield
It was a case of good news bad news in Mansfield on Tuesday as the OCU Baseball team picked up their first ever win over OSU Mansfield 14 to 6 in the first game of a doubleheader, but lost a chance for a sweep when the Blazers lost the second game 8-7 in extra innings.

Vogelgesang and Blevins Pitch OCU To Sweep Of Lincoln Christian
The Trailblazers baseballers picked up their seventh and eighth wins of the year with a twinbill sweep of Lincoln Christian University by scores of 3-0 and 7-0. Righthanders Steven Vogelgesang and Michael Blevins spun back to back shut outs on a windy Saturday at OCU. Vogelgesang gave up only two hits in a seven inning complete game effort while striking out 9.
OCU Baseball Drops 2 To Clark State
A small ball park and a wind blowing out led to six home runs by Clark State and a sweep of the Blazers by scores of 10-3 and 11-8 in Springfield. Coach Greg Bigam sees his offense improving with 20 more hits in the doubleheader. "Baseball can be a game of inches and we hit a couple of shots right at them and with one or two clutch hits with men on base we might have picked up another win.
