The summer entering into his senior season, Nathan Elswick had decisions to make, decisions as to what to do after his high school career was over. As a student at Logan Elm High School, Nathan would consider Ohio Christian University as his college to attend.
The Ohio Christian University men's basketball team went 1-1 over the weekend with a 93-89 win over Union College and a 91-82 loss to host Asbury University. Tirrell Cumberland led the Trailblazers against Union with 25 points and six rebounds.
Trailblazers lose to UC Clermont 82-84 despite a 34 point and 12 rebound performance from Brandon Byars. Byars was the only consistent player for Blazers all night. He scored and rebounded but the rest of the team could not get up to speed. The Blazers struggled all night from the three point line. They only shot 3 for 18.
OCU Men's Basketball traveled to Cedarville, Ohio Tuesday night to take on the Yellow Jackets of Cedarville University. The Trailblazers played a strong first half against the NAIA nationally ranked Yellow Jackets going into the half trailing 36-39.
The Trailblazers of Ohio Christian University finish the week 3-0 on Saturday by defeating Southern State Community College 89-61. Forward Jeremy Hays led the Blazers Saturday with 24 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocked shots. "Jeremy has been playing really well and has the potential to be a real special player," says Coach Christopher.
Mount Vernon, Ohio (11-16-2010). The Ohio Christian University men's basketball team traveled to the campus of Mount Vernon seeking their first victory against the Cougars. The Trailblazers, anchored by a stellar shooting performance came out victorious in a 94-83 upset of the Cougars in their Physical Education Center.
The Trailblazers win against cross town rival Valor Christian College (World Harvest) on Monday night 88-76. The Trailblazers shot the ball well on the night. As a team they shot 49 percent from the field, 42 percent from the 3 point line and 80 percent from the free throw line.
The Trailblazers of Ohio Christian University move to 3 and 1 with a win over Temple Baptist College on Tuesday night. The Blazers defeated Temple 83 to 62.
The Men's Basketball team of Ohio Christian University was at home this weekend in their annual Tip-Off Classic. On Friday the team took on Ohio University Lancaster in a 103 to 73 win. In his home game debut OCU's Tirrell Cumberland did not disappoint. Tirrell shot 5 for 7 from three point land and 8 for 10 overall. He finished with 27 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals.
Trailblazers opened their season Tuesday night in Indiana against NAIA Indiana University-East. The team came out very slow and sluggish. At halftime, the Trailblazers went into the locker room down by 6 with a score of 35 to 41. "We came out of the locker room and tried to get the game up tempo by pressing and it back fired on us to put us farther in the hole.
