The Ohio University Trailblazers opened the mid east regional league play tonight with a win against Boyce College 114 to 45. The Trailblazers now 8 and 2 started strong tonight and ended strong. They shot 25 for 38 from the three point line at 62 percent. They had a season record 25 steals on the night and 8 blocked shots.
The Trailblazers of Ohio Christian University move to 7and 2 with a win over Ohio University Lancaster Wednesday night 91 to 64. The Trailblazers jumped out to an early lead by pressing the ball early in the game. The team had 13 steals for the game which lead to transition points. The Blazers shot well from the field shooting 58 percent from the field and 50 percent from the three point line.
The Trailblazer's of Ohio Christian University won one and lost one over the weekend. The Trailblazer's now 5 and 2 traveled to Phoenixville PA this weekend to take on last year's national runner up Valley Forge Christian University on Friday. The # 2 nationally ranked Trailblazers of Ohio Christian University steal one on the road against NAIA Red Wolves of Indiana University East 77 to 76. The Trailblazers traveled to Richmond, Indiana last night looking to redeem their two double figure losses to IUE from last season. "We played a very big and athletic team well on defense tonight.
Trailblazers win Buzzer beater against UC Clermont 75 to 73. The Trailblazers men's basketball team shot well against Clermont. 58 percent from the floor and 66 percent from three point land. UC Clermont hung around for the entire game with their quick moves to the basket, several offensive rebounds and second shot put backs.
Ohio Christian University Trailblazers fell to Mt. Vernon Nazarene Cougars 72 to 84. The game was as good as it gets for the fans of the Trailblazers. There were multiple lead changes and many highlight plays. Due to foul trouble late in the first half the Cougars made a late half run going into the locker room up 41 to 30.
Ohio Christian University Men's Basketball team started the season this weekend with their annual Tip-Off Tournament. The Trailblazers won both contests. Friday night OCU faced Clark State and won 76 to 56. On Saturday, the Trailblazers went on to defeat Wright State Lake, 88 to 75. All-American senior guard Stefan Vasiloff started right where he left off a year ago.
Coach Christopher is returning for his third year as head coach for the Ohio Christian University Trailblazers. The last two seasons have been successful with '07-'08 being the first 20 win season in the school's history. They went on to be the runner up at the ACCA National Tournament.
On Sunday afternoon, September 27, OCU's men's basketball team visited the Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base. Being able to tour the base and meet fulltime and traditional guardsmen, Congressman Steve Austria, and Colonel Steve McMahon was a great experience for the team.
Head Men's Basketball Coach Curtis Christopher recently hired Sky Brusco as Assistant Coach for the 2009/10 Trailblazer season. Prior to coming to OCU, Coach Brusco served two seasons, as head Varsity coach at Fairfield Christian Academy, winning two Sectional Championships and a nomination for Coach of the Year in the Mid-Ohio Christian Athletic League.
