OCU Volleyball drops match to Johnson Bible
Ohio Christian University was defeated in four sets by the Johnson Bible College Evangels 23-25, 25-19, 18-25, 14-25.
Freshmen Ashley Southard and Sophomore Linette Shetler contributed 21 kills. Freshmen Tiffany Mosher had a season high 24 digs.
"The team had good energy in sets one and two," said Coach Brothers.
Trailblazers lose to Clark State
Ohio Christian University was defeated in four sets by the Clark State Lady Eagles 18-25, 25-22, 12-25, 18-25.
Freshmen Ashley Southard led the offensive attack with 12 kills and the defense with 4 blocks. Sophomore Linette Shetler chipped in 14 digs.
"We worked through some changes at times, but the focus was not consistent," said Coach Brothers.
OCU Volleyball Team 2010 Trailblazer Classic Runners-up
Ohio Christian University continued their winning ways into the tournament part of the 2010 Trailblazer Classic.
Ohio Christian Volleyball Wins Pool in 2010 Home Tournament
Ohio Christian University is host to the 2010 Trailblazer Classic and entered pool play on Friday, September 24. OCU earned the 1st seed with two match wins.
In the first match, OCU faced fellow NCCAA opponent Central Bible College from Springfield, Missouri.
OCU Pulls Out Five Set Win
Ohio Christian defeated the OSU-Mansfield Mavericks with scores of 25-20, 8-25, 22-25, 25-16, 15-7.
Sophomore Linette Shetler and Freshmen Ashley Southard led the team offensively with 11 kills a piece. Ashley had a season high 5 aces.
OCU loses to KCU
Ohio Christian lost to Kentucky Christian in straight sets 12-25, 22-25, 14-25.
Sophomore Hillary Stump led the offense with 7 kills. Tiffany Mosher led the team with 18 digs.
"We came out slow in the first set, but picked up the intensity in the second set," said Coach Wes Brothers.
OCU Drops Two Regional Contests
Ohio Christian lost its first match of the 2010 season at Johnson Bible College 23-25, 23-25, 25-23, 25-15. OCU then traveled to Powell, Tennessee where they fell short in a 10-25, 17-25, 25-27 loss to the Crown College.
In the Johnson Bible match, Ashley Southard led the team with 10 kills and Hillary Stump tallied 8 kills in the loss to JBC.
OCU Takes First Regional Match
Ohio Christian tallied a win over the Free Will Baptist Bible College Flames with scores of 25-21, 25-8, 25-16.
In the first NCCAA MidEast Region matchup, OCU rallied behind a balanced offense to earn the win.
Ashley Southard led the Trailblazers with 8 kills and was closely followed by three other Trailblazers who had over 5 kills.

Lady Trailblazers Win Season Opener
OCU defeated the Southern State Community College Patriots 25-7, 25-21, 25-17.
The 2010 season opener and first OCAC conference match pitted Ohio Christian University versus Southern State Community College.
Linette Shetler led the team with 10 kills on 67% hitting percentage and tallied 4 aces. OCU's libero, Tiffany Mosher, led OCU defensively with 14 digs.
Kara Potochnik latest Volleyball Signee
Kara Potochnik has signed a letter of intent to play with the OCU women's volleyball team. She brings with her 4 years of varsity volleyball experience. Kara will graduate from Fairfield Christian Academy where she currently has a 3.92 GPA. She has been a member of Fairfield Christian's National Honor Society her 9th through 12th grade years.
