Kara Potochnik has signed a letter of intent to play with the OCU women's volleyball team. She brings with her 4 years of varsity volleyball experience. Kara will graduate from Fairfield Christian Academy where she currently has a 3.92 GPA. She has been a member of Fairfield Christian's National Honor Society her 9th through 12th grade years.
There is a theme with the 2010 recruiting class and that is versatility, well developed skills, and excellent performance in the classroom. Rachel Briggs is the latest signee for the OCU Women's Volleyball 2010 season. She is the daughter of Joseph and Marie Briggs.
Ohio Christian University Coach Wes Brothers is going for Gold-at least he is learning coaching strategy from Gold Olympians Hugh McCutcheon and Karch Kiraly.
Ohio Christian University is proud to announce our second signee for Women's Volleyball. Cierra Gest, a senior from Sturgis High School in Michigan has signed to play for the Lady Trailblazers. Cierra had played 2 years varsity and 7 years of club with AAU. She is an excellent student earning a 3.6 grade point average and Academic All-State.
Hali Burleson, daughter of Jay and Sue Burleson, has signed with Ohio Christian University to play volleyball. Hali was coached by Valerie Westfall at Ohio Valley Christian School in Gallipolis, Ohio. Hali's team has gone to State both her junior and senior year. She also played club for SEOVC for four years.
Junior Marissa Tackett was selected to be on the 2009 1st Team All Conference for the Ohio College Athletic Conference. Tackett suffered an ankle sprain halfway through the season and after a few weeks was back on the court.
Ohio Christian Women's Volleyball dropped a close match to Southern State with scores of 16-25, 24-26, 26-24, 24-26. "Tonight's contest showed just how much the team has improved since the last contest versus Southern State," said Head Coach Wes Brothers. "Our defense continues to be solid.
Ohio Christian Women's Volleyball fell to the Scarlet Wave with scores of 13-25, 23-25, 12-25. "Our serve receive percentage is showing some consistency," stated Coach Brothers.
Ohio Christian Women's Volleyball beat Free Will Baptist Bible College 25-19, 25-15, 21-25, 25-22. "The team displayed good energy and composure throughout the match," said Head Coach Wes Brothers. "Everyone chipped in for the victory." In the fourth and final set, OCU was down 13-18. Freshman Allie Moore, Marissa Tackett, and Kristen Uetrecht contributed 2 kills a piece.
Ohio Christian University Women's Volleyball dropped four matches in the home tournament this past weekend to St. Catharine College (Kentucky) twice, Rochester College (Michigan), and Central Bible College (Missouri). "Injuries and sickness are still bothering our team," said Head Coach Wes Brothers.
