All-State Guard Signs with Lady Blazers

Kendra Blair, a 5'9 guard from Newark Catholic High School, signed this week to play basketball for the Lady Trailblazers next year.  Blair, who received 1st Team All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-Ohio this season, was a three year starter and two year captain for the Green Wave.  Kendra averaged 17 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2 assists per game in her senior campaign.

Head Coach Mandy Wray said, "We are very excited to have Kendra join us.  She is a versatile player that can play any position on the floor and is able to score in a variety of ways. We will look to her to contribute in a big way for us next year.  Kendra is a strong guard that can finish through contact, and also has a nice shooting touch on the perimeter.  She is going to be fun to watch."

Blair joins the Lady Trailblazers coming off their most successful season in the history of the women's basketball program.  The OCU women finished the season with a record of 26-6, including an undefeated 13-0 at home.  The Lady Blazers qualified for the NCCAA NAtional Tournament for the first time, and finished as the National Runner-up, losing the championship game by two points.

"We have worked hard to bring in some quality players to pick up where we left off this year," said Wray.  "We are thankful for what we were able to accomplish this year, but we are not satisfied.  The National Championship game loss made our returning players even hungrier to get back there.  We have a great group of incoming freshman that will add to our core group of returners.  It will be very exciting to see them mesh together and see what we can accomplish next year."
