OCU Falls to OU-Chillicothe HilltoppersThe Blazers played a strong first half and went into the locker room with a 33-30 lead against the Hilltoppers from Chillicothe on Saturday afternoon. The lead quickly dwindled as Ohio Christian struggled in the second half, shooting only 10 of 38 from the field while also enduring a six minute scoring drought. The Hilltoppers went on a late 8-0 run to seal the victory as they went on to win by a score of 77-61. Chris Thompson was one of the few bright spots for the Blazers as he posted a game high 24 points while also grabbing a team high 10 rebounds. Dan Garnett had another solid performance for OCU as he scored 16 points and had 9 rebounds. Coach Batten had this to say about the game, "We played so poorly in the second half that we just couldn't get any momentum going. Our defense was terrible tonight in the second half and we really showed our youth in a couple of areas. It is hard to play as lackluster as we did tonight and ever expect to come away with a victory. We are going to have to tighten up some things this week in practice and come out next time with a better effort." |
