Blazers defeated by the Eagles of Asbury

The Ohio Christian men's basketball team came out of the gate with defensive tenacity against the visiting Eagles from Asbury College (NAIA) on Tuesday night. Ohio Christian went back and forth with Asbury as the lead changed hands several times throughout the first 20 minutes of play. A Chris Thompson layup gave OCU a 36-35 advantage with just three minutes remaining in the first half and brought the crowd to their feet. However, it was the last time the Blazers would lead in the game. Asbury came out in the second half and used a pivotal 22-4 run to build a strong lead. OCU opened up the second half with only two field goals during the first 7 minutes of play, leading to the Eagles big run and eventual victory. "It was really a tale of two halves tonight," said Coach Batten. "We came out fired up in the first half and we were tenacious everywhere on the floor. The second half was the exact opposite and we lost that fire. We had some shooting woes early in the second half and Asbury stole the momentum at that point. We are going to have to play together for a complete 40 minutes and play well if we expect to beat a team llike Asbury." Chris Thompson led all scorers with 23 points. Gerald Froe contributed 12 points in the loss.
