OCU Volleyball Defeats #2 KCUAfter a long road trip to Michigan, where the Lady Blazers won two matches on Monday, the OCU women's volleyball team defeated the #2 team in the region on Tuesday in four games (30-24, 30-28, 24-30, 30-25). The Lady Trailblazers remained undefeated in the region when they defeated Kentucky Christian in a premier Mid-East regional match-up. OCU was again led by Marlaina Shotsky's 27 kills, 16 digs, and 4 blocks. Brittany Martin added 14 kills, while Whitney Pontius tallied 42 assists. Head Coach Wes Brothers said, "The question we had to answer tonight was how much energy we would bring to tonight's match after yesterday's tri-match. The team answered that question with focus and poise throughout the entire match. They kept the atmosphere positive and worked through any tiredness they had. KCU came with great energy and effort. The Knights really tested our defense tonight and converted several free balls into kills. The ladies fought past a loss in the third game and pulled out the win in game four." |
