Lady Blazers Tally Two More Wins

The Lady Blazers persevered through a grueling match with OSU-Mansfield on Saturday, but eventually ended with a win in four close games (29-31, 30-28, 27-30, 28-30). Marlaina Shotsky led the team with 24 kills and 3 aces, while Brianna Brown had 8 kills on a 28% attack percentage. Brittany Martin added 13 kills and 22 digs. Head Coach Wes Brothers said, "The scores tell the back and forth battle this match was. The team played with great focus and intensity. With each game, our defense made adjustments and improved against their offensive attack. Offensively, we had trouble putting balls away and ultimately this was the deciding factor in this thrilling match."

On Monday, OCU defeated OU-Lancaster in three straight games (30-17, 31-29, 30-24). Shotksy, Martin, and Katie Baird charted 10 kills each, and Shotsky also led the team in aces with 6, blocks with 3, and digs with 19. Coach Brothers said, "OU-Lancaster played a few people short and showed great heart in tonight's match. The Trailblazers exhibited good team play in the 1st and the 3rd games. In the second game, the Trialblazers found themselves down 20-23, rallied to 28-29. After a critical sideout, OCU road the momentum train to a 2nd game victory. Everyone was able to contribute to tonight's match win!"
