Volleyball Season Recap - Trailblazers Finish another Record Breaking Season

The women's volleyball team of Ohio Christian University completed another record-breaking season. The Lady Trailblazers pushed themselves in the off season and worked hard during the season to make 2007 a solid year.

As a team, the Trailblazers chalked up 21 total match wins and 64 games won, breaking last year's records of 16 and 57, respectively. The Blazers cut their game losses from 63 last year to 33 this year. The ladies' hard work paid off in more production during matches this year. The team saw gains in kills per game, serve percentage, digs per game, assists per game, and serve receive percentage.

There were several honors given to the Lady Trailblazers for the 2007 season: Marlaina Shotsky was named Mid-East region MVP for the second year in a row. Whitney Pontius received her 1st Team All Region honor. Brittany Martin was named to the 2nd Team All Region.

Wes Brothers was named the 2007 Mid-East Coach of the Year in his first year as head coach of the Lady Trailblazers. Coach Wes's statement, "I am really honored and humbled to be given this award. The coaches in the Mid-East region are godly men and women who provide leadership to their team on and off the court. They also understand the game of volleyball and get results, and I am glad to be among such a great group!"

In closing, Coach Wes had this to say about the Trailblazer's 2007 season, "I am really proud of the ladies' tremendous work ethic this year. They really focused and displayed mental toughness during practice and matches. This helped them surpass several of their team and individual goals. I look forward to building on this success next year!"
