OCU Women to play in Regional Final
OCU Women's soccer is in it first year of existance. No one expected the women to do what they have done to this date. Today they defeated Johnson Bible College in the Mid-East Regional Tournament. The women move on to play Kentucky Christian Univ. in the Regional final. Winning tomorrow would mean a trip to Florida to play in the National Tournament.
OCU scored first on a cross from Sarah Peters that landed in the box and was kicked in by a Johnson defender. OCU controlled much of the half but Johnson did not give up. In the scond half JBC came out with some passion and evened the score at one a piece. With the pressure on, the OCU women prevailed by hitting two beautiful shots before the final time. Captain, Lieci South and Sarah Peters both scored on the Regional Goalkeeper of the year to lift the women to victory. "I am very proud, and thank God that He has given me this opportunity to coach these young women. They never give up and play hard for each other. What a blessing this is" mentioned Coach Murton on the victory.
The win moves thier record to 3-3-1 and the will play Kentucky Christian (the #1 seed in the region) tomorrow at 11am at OCU.
