Ohio Christian Posts Win Over the Weekend
The Ohio Christian University Trailblazers won their second game by defeating the Ohio University-Lancaster Cougars by the score of 7-1. The Trailblazers were led with a stellar pitching performance by freshman, Steven Vogelgesang (Cincinnati, OH). Vogelgesang pitched a complete game, five hitter, allowing one earned run, and striking out five. Trailblazer Head Coach, Bruce Crabtree said “Steven was on target from the very first pitch of the game. He effectively mixed up his pitches throughout the game to keep the Cougars off balance at the plate. He really showed strong leadership and presence on the hill today.”
The Trailblazers jumped on the Cougars for five runs in the first inning and added two more runs in the sixth inning. The offense was led by freshman catcher, Max Ray (Bettendorf, IA). Ray was 3 for 3 with two singles, a double, two runs scored and one RBI. Juniors, Scott Mazzaro (Cincinnati, OH) and Matthew Bumpus (Centerburg, OH), added two RBI’s each while juniors, DJ Malone (Portsmouth-OH) and Tae Spell (Wilson, NC) added one RBI each. Sophomore, Andrew Lindeman (Grove City, OH) also provided two hits and scored twice.
The Trailblazers are home again on April 13 vs. Ohio State-Mansfield and April 18 vs. Freewill Baptist.
