Trailblazer Basketball Starts Season with Wins
Ohio Christian University Men's Basketball team started the season this weekend with their annual Tip-Off Tournament. The Trailblazers won both contests. Friday night OCU faced Clark State and won 76 to 56. On Saturday, the Trailblazers went on to defeat Wright State Lake, 88 to 75.
All-American senior guard Stefan Vasiloff started right where he left off a year ago. Vasiloff scored 21 points per game and averaged 5 boards and 5 assists per game. Junior guard Tim Baker played well on Saturday shooting 6 for 10 from the three point line scoring 23 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. Center Mike Baker averaged 15 points a game.
Several new faces made it on the floor this weekend. Freshman forward Jeremy Hays scored 8 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists on Friday night. Freshman point guard Bryan Keaton showed why he led his South Carolina High school team to two state championships this weekend. Keaton averaged 6 points and 5 assists this weekend. Another freshman who saw the floor this weekend was big man Michael McCowan who had four crowd pleasing blocked shots on Friday night.
"This was a good start to our season. We have some bugs to work out, but all in all it was a good tournament," says Coach Curtis Christopher. "We have the potential to be a very good team and I am excited to see how it all plays out." The Trailblazers host Mt. Vernon Nazarene University this Tuesday at 7 pm.
