Trailblazer Softball Signs First Recruit for 2010 Freshman Class

The Ohio Christian University Trailblazer softball program is pleased to announce the signing of the first recruit for the 2010 freshman class. Mackenna Jennings, a pitcher from Circleville High School, has signed her letter of intent to play softball for Ohio Christian University in 2010-2011.

During her senior year Mackenna had 66 at bats with a batting average of .348 and an on base average of .514. She had 23 hits, seven of which were doubles, drew 7 walks, had only 9 strikeouts, scored one run and drove in 14 RBI's.

Defensively Mackenna had a 15-5 record as the starting pitcher for Circleville High School. Mackenna had 46 fielding attempts with ten putouts and only two errors in 132 innings of play. She gave up 96 hits, 20 bases on balls, one hit by pitch and one wild pitch while accumulating 136 strikeouts. Mackenna finished the regular season only giving up 28 total runs with only 17 charged as earned runs. Mackenna's ERA ended up at 0.90.

"The game of softball relies heavily on the pitcher. Mackenna will bring a strong, commanding presence to our pitching rotation," said head coach Emory Clark. "Any time you can add a pitcher to your arsenal who comes with an ERA less than one, a strike outs per inning average of greater than one, and a bases on balls average of less than one per inning it has the potential to make a big difference for your program. We are very proud to have Mackenna choose to become a member of the Trailblazer softball program and we are excited about what she will bring to our team."

Ohio Christian University softball competes in the National Christian College Athletic Association and in the Ohio Collegiate Athletic Conference.
