Ohio Christian University defeated the Warriors of Appalachian Bible College in three sets 25-9, 25-14, 25-17. Freshmen Ashley Southard led the attacking with 7 kills and Sophomore Linette led the team with 4 aces. "This was a fun match to watch," said Coach Wes Brothers.
Ohio Christian University lost in four sets to the Crown College Lady Crusaders 19-25, 25-19, 20-25, 21-25. Sophomore Meredith Fairrow had a season high 32% hitting percentage. Southard and Shetler led with 11 and 9 kills respectively. Mosher led the defense with 16 digs. "Our goal was to reduce our hitting errors and we did that," said Coach Brothers.
Ohio Christian University was defeated in four sets by the Johnson Bible College Evangels 23-25, 25-19, 18-25, 14-25. Freshmen Ashley Southard and Sophomore Linette Shetler contributed 21 kills. Freshmen Tiffany Mosher had a season high 24 digs. "The team had good energy in sets one and two," said Coach Brothers.
It was a good weekend for OCU soccer. On Friday, October 1st, the OCU Men defeated Appalacian Bible College 6-1. Although that lone goal for ABC was the first OCU has given up in regional play, the men rolled forward with goals from Dave Blamo (2), Jorge Aldalla, Kevin Street, Chad Dobbs and Isaac Koech. Ohio Christian University was defeated in four sets by the Clark State Lady Eagles 18-25, 25-22, 12-25, 18-25. Freshmen Ashley Southard led the offensive attack with 12 kills and the defense with 4 blocks. Sophomore Linette Shetler chipped in 14 digs. "We worked through some changes at times, but the focus was not consistent," said Coach Brothers.
The Men's Soccer Game versus Otterbein College has been moved to October 21st at 4pm. It will still be played at Westerville on Otterbein's campus.
Ohio Christian University continued their winning ways into the tournament part of the 2010 Trailblazer Classic.
Ohio Christian University is host to the 2010 Trailblazer Classic and entered pool play on Friday, September 24. OCU earned the 1st seed with two match wins. In the first match, OCU faced fellow NCCAA opponent Central Bible College from Springfield, Missouri.
Dave Blamo (in picture #9) was named NCCAA Division 2 Soccer player of the week. He was named for his role in scoring a hat trick against Johnson Bible College while assisting in the fourth goal against Johnson. He also scored against NAIA foe, Shawnee State University.
