Canton Standout Austin Caldwell Signs With Trailblazers

CANTON, OH - Canton Heritage Senior Austin Caldwell has signed his letter of intent to play for the Trailblazers.  The 6-7 senior signed during a special ceremony at Heritage Christian in the company of friends, classmates, family, and coaches.

Caldwell enjoyed an excellent senior season as he racked up career highs of 14.3 points and 12.6 rebounds per game.  For his standount season he was honored as a 1st Team District IV selection while also taking home Northeast Inland All-District honors.

He capped off his prep career by being named an All-Star and represented Heritage Christian in the 31st annual North-South All-Star game at Walsh University in late March.

Caldwell performs at a high level in the classroom as well.  The senior had straight A's in his senior year and scored a 32 on his ACT exam.  As a Beta Club member in high school, Caldwell also made time to serve with Christians in Action.

"We really like Austin and think he has a huge upside as a post player," commented OCU Head Coach Tony Stockman.  "With his work ethic and ability to learn quickly we know that he will become an impact player."

Caldwell joins an OCU program that is coming off of their first ever NCCAA National Title.  The Trailblazers will begin defending their title in early November, as they tipoff their season in Cincinnati.
