Blazers Sign Defensive Specialist Te-Asia Smith

COLUMBUS, OH - Ohio Christian head coach Mandy Wray has announced the addition of Te-Asia Smith to the OCU women's basketball program.  Smith was a standout guard at Gahanna Lincoln High School in Columbus, Ohio where she played for head coach Rick Hauser.  Under the direction of Coach Hauser, Smith helped lead Gahanna Lincoln to the Regional Semifinals with her tencacious defense during the 2011-12 season.
Smith has proven to be an energetic guard that brings speed, athleticism, and a passion for defense to the court. During their postseason run to the regional semifinals, she was given the job of guarding the best player on the other team. Her biggest strength is without a doubt her tenacity and quickness on defense. It has often been said that 'offense sells tickets, but defense wins championships' and Smith has bought into that kind of mentality on the court.  She was a team captain her senior season and was named as the Most Improved Player by her teammates and coaches. She is also is a standout athlete in track and field.
"We are very excited for Te-Asia to join our program,: said head coach Mandy Wray. "She is a great fit for our system, and her tenacity and quickness on defense will complement our style very well."
