Comeback Bid Comes Up Short in 76-70 Loss to Columbus State
COLUMBUS, OH - The #2 ranked Lady Trailblazers made the short trip north to Columbus State on Wednesday night to take on the host Cougars. Columbus Stats, an NJCAA affiliate, jumped out to a big 13 point lead on the Trailblazers in the first half.
OCU regrouped after halftime and went on a big 2nd half run to start the comeback. The Blazers battled back to erase the 13 point deficit and was able to take the lead on the Cougars at one point. Columbus State inched ahead in the closing minutes to reclaim the lead. OCU had opportunities down the stretch but could not finish. Columbus State thwarted the OCU comeback and came away with the 76-70 win.
Olivia Davis had a big game with 9 points and a team high 15 rebounds. Chelsea Black added 11 points and 8 rebounds. Senior guard Shelby Roe tossed in a team high 16 points. Columbus State was led by Karis Watts who poured in a game high 26 points.
