Jones Signs with Lady Blazers

Head Coach Mandy Wray traveled to Ft Lauderdale, Florida on Thursday to sign forward Sharonda Jones of Coral Springs Christian Academy.  After the District track meet was rescheduled for Sharonda's signing date, Coach Wray met Sharonda and her family at the meet for her signing ceremony.  (Sharonda finished 1st in District in the shot put and the discus and will move on to Regionals in the next few weeks).

Sharonda will join the Lady Trailblazers after a very successful senior campaign with Coral Springs.  She was the CSCA's Top Performer of the Week three times this season, including one week in which she scored 64 points, and had 28 rebounds and 13 steals.  Jones finished as her Conference MVP and averaged 18.1 points, 8.3 revounds, and 3 steals per game this year.

"We are very excited to have Sharonda sign with us.  She is what we were missing inside and will give us an inside presence that we haven't had in the past few seasons," said Coach Wray.  "Sharonda is extremely strong and athletic and has a true passion for the game and for the Lord.  She is going to be a great addition for us and will be a key piece to us being a National Championship contender."

Sharonda joins the Lady Blazers after their best season in school history.  The OCU women finsihed 26-6 overall, including an undefeated 13-0 at home.  The Lady Trailblazers were OCAC Champions, the program's first conference championship, and finished as the NCCAA Division II National Runner-up, losing in the championship game by 2 points.  Head Coach Mandy Wray has worked extremely hard recruiting this spring and will look to pick up where they left off next season.
