Lady Blazers Honor Seniors
On Tuesday, after the Lady Blazers defeated #1 ranked Kentucky Christian University and became regular season Mid-East Region Champions for the first time in the history of the program, OCU honored their seniors. Brenda Carter and Brittany Martin have been an integral part of the success of the women's basketball program the last few years.
Martin was a member of Coach Wray's first team at OCU, averaging 14.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game for the Trailblazers in her freshman season. Brittany played three seasons for the Lady Trailblazers. Her accomplishments in All-Region honors as well as Team Captain.
Carter, a transfer from Columbus State Community College, is the most decorated women's basketball player in the history of the program. At the end of this season, Brenda will hold the school records for points in a game (44), career points, career steals, season field goal percentage (66.7%), and career field goal percentage. She is only the second female in the Trailblazer's 1000 point club, and led the nation in scoring last yaer with 28 points per game.
Head Coach Mandy Wray said, "I am happy that this turned out to be such a special night for our seniors. Brenda and Brittany are a big reason that our program is where it is today, and for us to beat KCU for the first time in such a big game made it that much more special. This is a night I am sure they will always remember."
