Lady Blazers Sign Local Standout Gretchen Meyer

Gretchen Meyer, a 6' post player from Amanda-Clearcreek High School, signed to play basketball for the Lady Trailblazers next year.  Gretchen was a 3 year Varsity starter and averaged 13 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists in during her senior season.  Meyer received 1st Team All-District honors and was also named to the Mid-State League 1st Team this season.  Gretchen was recognized as the Columbus Dispatch and Circleville Herald Player of the Week during her 2009-10 senior campaign.

Head Coach Mandy Wray said, "Gretchen is a huge addition for us.  She will add size and rebounding inside, but she is also extremely versatile and can play on the perimeter and knock down the 3 point shot as well.  Gretchen has great court awareness and is a solid defender.  I am excited to see what she will bring to our team next year."

Gretchen is Coach Wray's second local signee this spring (Teays Valley's Kim Craycraft signed earlier this month).  Wray said, "It's nice to see that our program is getting noticed locally.  We have worked hard the past few years to develop our program, and it's great to be able to sign some local players to continue to build on that success."

Meyer will join the NCCAA National Runner-up Lady Trailblazers, looking to pick up where they left off last season.  The OCU women finished the 2009-10 season with a 26-6 record overall, including an undefeated 13-0 at home.
