Lady Blazers Win Again

The Lady Blazers defeated Southern State Community College on Tuesday by a score of 94-67.  All ten players for the Lady Blazers contributed on both ends of the floor, with every player scoring and earning at least one steal in the game.  It was again the Blazers' defensive tenacity that led to the big production on offense.  OCU finished with 26 steals for the game, forcing 42 turnovers against a solid Southern State team.  Junior forward Danielle Fleming led Ohio Christian with 26 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals.  Senior guard Brenda Carter and freshman guard Dannyel Butte each had 17 points and 3 steals.  Junior forward Angela Thorne added 10 points, 6 reobounds, and 3 assists.  Freshman Shelby Roe chipped in 7 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals as well.

The win advances the Lady Blazers to 18-3 overall.  The OCU women continue to hold the #3 ranking in the NCCAA National Poll, its highest ranking in the history of the women's basketball program.  They will travel to Columbus, Ohio on Friday night to take on the Lady Warriors of World Harvest Bible College.

Head Coach Mandy Wray said, "I am really pleased with the defensive intensity we have been showing in the last week or so.  It seems like things are really starting to click and we're reading each other and playing really well together.  We have had everyone contribute, and that is a key to our success.  We're excited about going up to World Harvest on Friday night. It will be a good challenge for us because it's a difficult place to play.  I'm looking forward to seeing how we respond."
