Lady Blazers Win and Move to 19-3

The Lady Blazers traveled to rival World Harvest Bible College on Friday in an Ohio Collegiate Athletic Conference match-up, defeating the Lady Warriors 85-39. Freshman guard Shelby Roe led another balanced OCU attack with 22 points, on 8 of 14 shooting from the field, 2 assists, and 2 steals.  Senior guard Brenda Carter added 20 points, on 9 of 12 shooting, and dished out 5 assists.  Junior forward Danielle Fleming chipped in 12 points and pulled down a team-high 9 rebounds.  Junior forard Angela Thorne added 8 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, while freshman guard Dannyel Butte had another solid game with 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Freshman point guard Courtney Schilling dished out a team high six assists. 

Head Coach Mandy Wray commented, "I was really pleased again tonight with our defensive effort and intensity.  Our offense starts with our defense, and we were able to force alot of turnovers again tonight.  We have two tough games next week to prepare us for KCU, our last home game of the season, in a little over a week, and then get ready for the tournaments."

The OCU women advanced to 19-3 with the win, and will travel to UC-Clermont on Tuesday and OU-Eastern on Thursday.  The Lady Blazers will finish up the regular season the following Tuesday, when they host #1 ranked Kentucky Christian University on Feb 9th on Senior Night.
