Lady Blazers Win Pair of Road Games Over the Weekend

KNOXVILLE, TN - The OCU Lady Trailblazers picked up two road wins over the weekend with wins at Johnson University and Hiwassee College.

On Friday night, the Blazers took on Mid-East region rival, Johnson University.  Johnson came out playing strong defense and working hard to stay close in the game after being blown out by OCU two weeks ago.  With Johnson playing the Blazers close in the first half, and OCU leading 23-18 with 9 seconds left, Chelsea Black nailed a 30 foot basket to beat the buzzer and push the OCU lead to 8 heading into the intermission.

That basket would give OCU a much needed boost heading into the second half.  Ohio Christian pushed the lead to 15 points and kept a comfortable lead into the closing minutes.  The Blazers came away with a 61-45 win over the scrappy team from Johnson.

On Saturday, OCU took on NCCAA affiliate, Hiwassee College.  Ohio Christian made quick work of the host tigers for the 2nd time in two weeks.  The Blazers took a double digit lead in the first half and pushed the lead to over 30 in the second half, winning by a final score of 86-56.

The OCU women will now prepare for their final OCAC matchup on Monday when they take on Southern State Community College.  Then coming up this weekend the Blazers will participate in the OCAC Conference Tournament.
