Lady Trailblazers advance to 8-0

For the first time in the history of the OCU women's basketball program, the Lady Trailblazers defeated the Cougars of OU-Lancaster on Wednesday night 63-55.  With the win, OCU (currently ranked #4 in the NCCAA National poll) remained undefeated for the season, advancing to 8-0, which is also the best start in the history of the program.  Freshman guard Dannyel Butte led a balanced OCU attack with with 19 points and 14 rebounds (her first double-double of the season).  Freshman point guard Courtney Schilling added 10 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals.  Every one of the Lady Trailblazers scored in the win (Roe-9, Thorne-8, Carter-7, Martin-5, Peters-3, Hughes-2).  
Head Coach Mandy Wray said, "We made some good steps forward today. It was good to see some of the things we've been working on in practice finally come to fruition in the game tonight. I was very pleased with our effort and how everyone contributed. We're excited for the weekend to see where we stand with other top-ranked teams in our division."
OCU travels to Georgia this weekend for a tournament at Toccoa Falls Christian College for a duel with two NCCAA South Region teams.  They will face Toccoa on Friday night at 6pm, and then tip-off at 10am on Saturday against #5 ranked Atlanta Christian College.
