Local Star Signs with Lady Blazers
The Ohio Christian University women's basketball team signed All-State guard Kaity Wyeth from Fairfield Union High School this week. Wyeth, who finished her high school career with 1,194 career points, is the most decorated player in the history of the girl's basketball program at Fairfield Union. A four-year letter-winner, Kaity holds her school's records for 3 pointers in a season (45), 3 pointers in a season (140), points in a game (44), and the state record for free throws in a game (21). She was the Mid-State League Buckeye Division Player-of-the-Year and received First Team All-District honors for the past two seasons.
Head Coach Mandy Wray said, "We are very excited to sign Kaity. She is an outstanding player, and at 5'11 is extremely versatile. She sees the floor really well and has a keen passing ability. But she is also a great three point shooter, and can finish strong when she attacks the basket. We will look to Kaity to have an immediate for us next yaer, and help us achieve our goal of winning a National Championship."
Wyeth joins the Lady Trailblazers coming off their most successful season in the history of the women's basketball program. The OCU women finished the season with a record of 26-6, including an undefeated 13-0 at home. The Lady Blazers qualified for the NCCAA National Tournament for the first time, and finished as the National Runner-up, losing the championship game by two points.
