OCU Comes Up Short Against National Champs

CIRCLEVILLE, OH - The #3 ranked Lady Trailblazers took on the defending NCCAA National Champions on Tuesday night at home and came up on the losing end, falling 77-62 to the visiting Knights.  The Lady Knights started the game strong, building an early thirteen point lead on the Trailblazers. OCU regrouped and fought back, forcing KCU into turnovers to go on a run of their own late in the half.

The thirteen point lead got cut to one as OCU stole the momentum as both teams went to their locker rooms at halftime.  The momentum at the end of the first half was all OCU but KCU rallied to start the second half to take back control of the game. KCU used a 54-35 rebounding advantage to pull away from the Blazers only in the last 5 minutes.  The visiting Knight went on to win 77-62 but the game was much closer than the score on the scoreboard.

"Our girls played very hard today,"  said heac coach Mandy Wray.  "We proved to oursevles that we can play with them.  We had some players step up for us today and we will learn from this game and continue to improve and be ready for our next matchup against them.  They are a talented and experienced team and they were able to make big plays in the final minutes to seal the win tonight."

The Blazers are back in action on Friday when they head south to take on UC-Clermont in Batavia, Ohio.  The game is set for a 6pm tip.
