Women's Basketball in the Dominican Republic - Update

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC UPDATE

DAY #2

Had a relaxing Sunday here...went to church this morning and worshipped and sang songs in Spanish, Kim shared her testimony. Then after lunch we went horse-back riding through a village. This afternoon we went to the beach. Now we are back at the Mission Training Center to play cards and have dinner. We will get rested up for a big day tomorrow at orphanages and playing another game. Stay tuned for more pictures and updates tomorrow! Please continue to pray for us as we minister and witness to the people here that they will feel the love of Jesus in and through us.

DAY #1

Wow...Day one is just about over. Our first full day in the DR included a youth basketball clinic for boys ages 5-13, playing a game against a women's professional team, lunch at Mc Donald's (some of us ate Chicken Macs), and then visiting our first of many orphanages.
It was challenging at first to communicate (since they only speak Spanish), but we learned quickly to use demonstrations and tryto pick up some key words in Spanish. The kids enjoyed listening to us try to talk to them in Spanish (and we taught them a few English words too!).  The most humbling experience of the day was when we visited the orphanage. To watch the joy on the childrens' faces when we walked in and played games with them, sang with them, and most importantly showed them the love of Christ and gave them individual attention, was priceless.

It was quite an experience to have the priviledge to meet and spend time with such great kids and people. We are only finishing up day one, but the things we experienced and people we met today will be with us forever!
We can't wait to see what tomorrow brings! Please continue to pray for us and the impact we have here!
