Jennings Grand Slam Lifts OCU to Sweep of OSU Newark

NEWARK, OH - The Trailblazer bats continued their hitting ways on Monday night at OSU Newark.  MacKenna Jennings propelled the Trailblazers to a two game doubleheader sweep of OSU Newark both on the mound and at the plate.

Jennings not only picked up a pair of wins pitching, but she helped her own cause as she went deep and connected on a grand slam in game 2.  The four run blast was the first ever grand slam in the short history of OCU softball.  She was sharp on the the mound as well, striking out 11 batters.

The Trailblazers beat Newark in Game 1 by a score of 6-4.  In game 2, OCU continued their hot hitting as they came away with a 10-5 win.

Rachel Briggs reached base 5 times with 4 walks and a single.  Christy Burcham went 3 for 5 with a trio of singles.  Bethanie Schaffner hit a solo home run, her third in the last four games.

The victory is the 4th straight for Ohio Christian as they now sit at 5-5 on the season.  OCU has won 5 of their last 6 games, outscoring their opponents 42-21 during that stretch.
