OCU Softball Sweeps NCAA Oberlin in Doubleheader

OBERLIN, OH - The OCU Trailblazers Softball Team stunned NCAA affiliate, Oberlin College on Monday night, sweeping the doubleheader against the host Yeowomen.

The lone run of the opener came in the top of the sixth, as Taylor Shiray would triple to right field with two outs and then score on a single by Rachel Briggs. OCU went on to win 1-0.

Trailblazers hurler MacKenna Jennings was impressive as she tossed all 14 innings on the day. In game one she allowed just three hits and fanned five.

In game two, OCU used a balanced offensive attack as Kelli Manning, Rachel Briggs, MacKenna Jennings, and Bethanie Schaffner all had RBI's to provide OCU's four runs.

Jennings was once again stellar on the mound as she tossed a 7 inning complete game, scattering 7 hits and striking out 5 batters as she only allowed one run.

The Trailblazers went on to with the nightcap by a score of 4-1.

OCU is now 7-5 on the season and will prepare to take on OSU-Newark in a doubleheader on Tuesday at home. Game one is set to start at 3:30 PM.
