Softball Opens New Field With Historic Wins Over UC-Clermont

CIRCLEVILLE, OH - The Ohio Christian University Trailblazer softball team completed a double header sweep of Ohio Collegiate Athletic Conference rival UC-Clermont on Saturday, March 24th, 2012. The Trailblazers took game one with a score of 8-1. The final in the second game was 5-3 as OCU moved to 2-0 in conference play.

Sophomore pitcher MacKenna Jennings led the Trailblazers to victory from the pitchers circle and from the offensive side of the game as well. In the first game, Jennings had a run scored with three RBI’s on three hits. On the mound she went 7 innings, giving up only 3 hits and a run while recording 7 strikeouts.

In the 2nd game, Jennings had a run scored, a double, and three stolen bases. On the mound she had five innings pitched, giving up just three runs, two of which were earned. On the season so far Jennings has a .500 batting average, five stolen bases, nine runs scored and six runs batted in. She also has 21 strikeouts in 31 innings with 2.90 earned run average.

“I was very proud of our team today,” said head coach Emory Clark. “They had to overcome a lot of adversity with the weather and field conditions. This was great day for our program. These were our first two wins in the Ohio Collegiate Athletic Conference and our third and fourth wins on the season.”

The Trailblazers are scheduled to be in action again on Monday, March 26 when they take on the Titans of OSU-Newark.
