Amanda Clearcreek Discus Champion Kari King to Throw for OCU

AMANDA, OH - Ohio Christian University Head Coach Dick Walters is thrilled to announce the addition of local champion, Kari King, to the OCU Track and Field Program.  The Amanda Clearcreek graduate signed her letter of intent on Thursday afternoon in a special ceremony attended by friends, family, and coaches.

Kari joins OCU Track and Field still in the midst of a memorable senior year at Amanda Clearcreek where she has led the Aces in Conference and Regional Competition.  King earned a reputation as being one of the best throwers in the county over the last two years for the Aces.

She took home the 2013 Mid-State League Championship in the discus with a throw of 113'5" at Fairfield Union High School in early May.  She then claimed second place in the Mid-State League in the shot put.

She followed that effort up by winning the District Championship in the discus this past week with a throw of 116'.

King will be competing in the Regional Meet next Thursday and Saturday at at Lexington High School in Lexington, Ohio.  With a top four finish, King will advance to the OHSAA State Track and Field Championships on June 7th and 8th at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium at The Ohio State University.

King comes to OCU after participating in the OCU Trailblazer Academy Post Secondary Program.  After two years in the program, she felt that OCU was the perfect fit for her to continue her collegiate academic and athletic careeer.

"We are very fortunate to add a quality student-athlete like Kari to our track and field program," stated Coach Walters.  "She is one of the best throwers around and we expect her to continue to be very successful as she begins to prepare for intercollegiate competition."
