Lady Trailblazers Win Season Opener

OCU defeated the Southern State Community College Patriots 25-7, 25-21, 25-17.

The 2010 season opener and first OCAC conference match pitted Ohio Christian University versus Southern State Community College.

Linette Shetler led the team with 10 kills on 67% hitting percentage and tallied 4 aces. OCU's libero, Tiffany Mosher, led OCU defensively with 14 digs. The team maintained a 90% serving percentage throughout the match and kept their unforced errors down to 6.7 per set.

OCU came back in the 2nd set from being down 17-21 and took the set 25-21.

"The team started off this match with great focus and good energy. We rallied in the 2nd set despite the Patriot's solid all around play," stated Head Coach Wes Brothers. "I saw a lot of good things tonight and the team was able to make good plays, so it was a fun match to watch and it gave us some things to focus on and continue to work on."

Ohio Christian University Women's volleyball has a record of 1-0 and an OCAC Conference record of 1-0.

Ohio Christian Volleyball's next home match is Tuesday, September 14th versus Kentucky Christian. The Trailblazers travel to Tennessee for three matches on Friday, September 10th at Free Will Baptist Bible College at 4 pm (CST) and Saturday, September 11th at 10 am (EST) versus Johnson Bible College and 3 pm (EST) versus the Crown College.
