Rachel Briggs Signs with Lady Trailblazers Volleyball
There is a theme with the 2010 recruiting class and that is versatility, well developed skills, and excellent performance in the classroom. Rachel Briggs is the latest signee for the OCU Women's Volleyball 2010 season. She is the daughter of Joseph and Marie Briggs. She will graduate from Buchanan High School where she currently has achieved a 3.7 GPA. With this academic performance, she has been placed on Buchanan High's National Honor Society and the Buchanan College Club. In addition to these school organizations, Rachel has volunteered her time at the Chiara Home, a home for the disabled, and has been an Altar Server at her church for over ten years.
Rachel brings with her 4 years of varsity volleyball experience. During those 4 years, her team was consistently in the top 3 in the conference. Rachel received the 101% award her junior year and the Coach's Award in her senior season. In her senior season, Rachel never missed a set and tallied some solid numbers. She earned 41 aces and 189 kills with a 40% hitting percentage. Rachel led her team in 2009 with a 98% service percentage and 68 blocks.
"Rachel brings the ability to put the ball away which is something we struggled with in 2009," stated Coach Wes Brothers. "Her competitive spirit will be a great asset, and we look forward to her success on the court and in the classroom at OCU."
